Some days you just have to create your own sunshine

Updated: Jan 25, 2022

I hear you people...

It's the last week of October, the nights are drawing in, it's half-term, there's the usual autumn illnesses going around and mutterings of 🦠 cases going up - a week on a beach sounds lush right now!

Well if that's not available to you, the good news is there are proven ways to boost your mood and wellbeing that are much quicker than a flight to Ibiza and more simple than booking said flight right now...

So I bring to you 5 ways to create your own sunshine & happiness as the nights draw in this week.

1. Give a Gift

Giving puts you in an abundant state of mind. Regardless of your financial situation, you always have something to give - be it time, a helping hand, or simply love. All are equally as valuable (if not more) and the act of giving these will boost your mood just as much as the recipients.

2. Make time to connect

Whether you're introverted or extroverted, social interaction has consistently been shown to increase positive emotions... it could be with friends, family, co-workers or even the barista at your local coffee shop.

3. Do what you love

It sounds so obvious, but when exactly was the last time you did that thing you love? It could be a yoga class, a crafting afternoon or reading a good book: whatever it is make time for it this week.

4. Wear something bright

Colour is a great way to brighten your day - think about the joy rainbows, confetti and cartoons evoke and you'll catch my drift. Just picturing these bright things can lift your energy and mood, so just imagine what wearing them can do!

TIP: Just realised you're in possession a monochrome wardrobe? A dash or lipstick or some colourful underwear will do the same job!

5. Pump up the tunes!

Most people can think of a song that reminds them of a holiday: the power of sound & vibration is undeniable. If you can pair your playlist with some sort of movement - a stroll through the park, a workout or even some energetic housework, you'll get a bonus boost!

How do you bring sunshine to the dullest of days?
